CarbonCounted is regulated by the use of Certified Auditors. For each company, the use of the CarbonConnect web application and the generation of logos requires annual verification by a Certified Auditor. Currently the most common standard for verification being used in the system is the GHG Protocol, ISO: 14064 series of standards for greenhouse gas inventories and reporting, ISO 14025:2006 (environmental labeling directions) and PAS 2050. However, the system can maintain multiple standards, which enables companies to change to or add other standards. We are also developing a CarbonCounted Community, which aims to ensure the system is relevant, complete, consistent and accurate.
