Register and use the CarbonConnect web application.
Then in CarbonConnect our information and help guides you through your calculations. Help is also available by e-mail or phone. For smaller operations, we have found the on-line data entry takes as little as 10-15 minutes.
The basic steps are as follows:
- Determine the standard you will be following. You may be part of a supply chain that requires a certain standard, you may prefer a specific standard, or you may choose to follow multiple standards.
- Working independently or with a certified auditor, choose your source(s) of your direct and indirect carbon dioxide emissions, items such as natural gas, electricity, shipping and travel. Then repeat for raw materials from your supply chain. This likely means requiring your supplier(s) to register. We welcome you to use our suggested text to ask your supplier(s) to register. Having your supplier(s) registered means your data is live and connected to your supply chain.
- Enter the quantities for your CO2 sources. This is usually an annual amount, but as long as your product/service production quantities are in the same time frame, you may use any time frame that makes sense to you.
- Enter your product(s) and/or service(s).
- Distribute the total CarbonCounted to each product and/or service.
- Once all of your sources of carbon dioxide are certified, you may download your labels.
